The Knowledge Sculptors provides services in the areas of e-business, Internet and Intranet technologies, legacy systems consulting, systems integration, maintenance, production support, and management & re-engineering issues. With the goal of guiding individuals and businesses in the 21st century, the firm serves companies in the areas of manufacturing, sales, distribution, insurance, finance, communications, & consulting.
Spearheading major new e-business and internet related efforts in the consultative and teaching areas, The Knowledge Sculptors has provided technical and business assistance in many areas. Polytechnic University: adjunct professor of undergraduate & graduate studies in e-business management with a concentration on the evolving e-business environment's information technologies ; courses taught have included core curriculum, advanced topics, and emerging technology management; check Prof Joe @ Poly U.
North American Broadcasting (KFNX, previously WALE, Webcast by StreamAudio): created and produced the long-running radio talk show, Cyber On! America!, that discusses the Internet and its social ramifications with callers and industry-level guests. Celebrating its sixth year, this talk show touches on all areas of human endeavor and reaches people all over the world.
Prudential: responsible for client acquisition and contract maintenance for a major national insurance firm; our long-term contract has included work on a number of mission critical systems most recently including assistance with cost reduction management and the firm's demutualization efforts.
Pallas Corporation: responsible for programming, systems development, and feasibility studies for different US-based clients of an international information technology consulting firm.
Mitsubishi: responsible for the maintenance and production support of various corporate backbone systems including payroll, asset management, and electronic data interchange trading systems as well as for coordination of resources and problem resolution on systems such as budgets and credits; business user training as well as the development of operations, systems, and end-user documentation; all 'hands-on' analysis, design, programming, testing, operations and systems functions to support application areas; 'as-needed' account interfacing and management support services.
AT&T: responsible for the analysis / design / programming / testing associated with the re-engineering and enhancement of the treasury and financial systems including check reconciliation, unclaimed property and escheatment.
Mita Copystar: responsible for the analysis / design / programming / testing associated with the reengineering and enhancement of the sales / inventory / shipping / distribution systems.
Austin Nichols: responsible for the strategic redevelopment of the information systems area as a corporate resource. Business areas include order processing, inventory, distribution, sales, invoicing, import/export , foreign exchange, A/P, A/R, G/L, EDI. Work involved hardware reconfiguration, networking, software evaluation, standards development, project management, administrative standards management, training and professional career development, interviewing, team -building, employment / human resources issues, contracting, negotiating, vendor maintenance, facsimile technology, data communications, telephony, budgeting, and strategic planning.
Clarino / Funai: responsible for migration & conversion of RPG & DFU program libraries, menus, OCL procedures & data files; internal (alpha) testing / installation / (on-site) unit, sub-system, and (beta) systems parallel testing; technical support hotline for hardware / software problems; system reconfiguration & fine-tuning; technical coordination with IBM and third parties; application system analysis, redesign, customization, and re-development including specification development, programming, testing, installation, and support; technical and administrative planning and project management.
Nikko Ceramics: responsible for full implementation of an EDI-based distribution and inventory system including- specification definition, package setup, programming, testing, and hotline technical support for hardware, software, communications & operations as well as technical coordination with IBM and third parties.
Yendo: responsible for systems analysis / design / prototyping / proposal development.
THK: responsible for maintenance programming and testing.
Nomura Securities: responsible for maintenance, programming and testing.
Information Technology Laboratories: responsible for coordination of vendor presentations to clients; "fitness for purpose" studies of database products; proposal development and high-level client interface; development and coordination of in-house and client strategies; project coordination with lead analysts in the areas of hardware, communications, networking, applications, and education & training; and "as needed" systems support and trouble shooting as well as continuing technical education such as in-house lectures, seminars & trade shows.
Director, Computer Center - 7/86 - 10/87
Responsible for the complete redevelopment and production operations of the law school's information systems department supporting all administrative and financial functions. Spearheaded the data center's hardware conversion and reconfiguration as well as departmental software customization. Duties included the hiring, supervision, and development of a technical staff of programmer analysts. Also standards definition, office automation, and the maintenance of related information technology equipment.
Independent Consultant, 4/85 - 7/86
Responsible for the design of software systems to aid the learning disabled and to assist in the software engineering process. Developed the business/financial plan for a technology consultancy.
Senior Systems Analyst - 3/84 - 4/85
Responsible for full project life-cycle activities for the re-engineering of a customer billing database system including proposal review for consulting services, budgeting, interviewing, hiring, professional staff's continuing technical education and training, professional curriculum development, and lecturing.
Systems Analyst - 2/83 - 3/84
Responsible for systems research pertaining to the integration of graphics front-ends with in-house financial and general management applications; other duties involved the establishment of a graphics database and the design and development of DBA support tools.
Associate Systems Analyst - 7/76 - 2/83
Responsible for full project life-cycle activities for various business & engineering systems involved in raw materials distribution, trend analysis, plant operations and engineering graphics & analysis. Other duties included project leadership, applications systems maintenance, technical systems support, interviewing & lecturing.
